BEL Award

The Sports Leaders UK Level 2 Award in Basic Expedition Leadership is a nationally recognised qualification that trains and qualifies teachers, youth workers and other members of the community to:

 

   *      Lead groups in lowland areas

   *      Have responsibility for the care of others when outdoors                     including day journeys

   *      Organise base and mobile camps.

 

On The Edge Activities are an accredited centre for this award so can offer this course either based in your own premises and sites local to you or in the vilage hall at Woodlands and sites in Teesdale

 

The course consists of 96 hours of learning which must include an expedition. We offer the BEL award course over 8, 2 hour sessions and 2 weekends.

The course includes navigation, risk assessment, equipment selection, leadership styles, outdoor specific first aid and expedition planning.

You must hold a First Aid qualification to be awarded the qualification, we can also offer this as part of the course.
