Guided walks

This walk starts from outside the Tourist information center in Middleton in Teesdale The guide will be there from 9:30 and will provide whatever clothing and boots have been pre ordered. We will walk alomg the west side of the Hudes Hope beck into the gorge and beyond to the former lead mining area of Hudes Hope the guide will describe the features as we walk and bring the history of the area to life. The industrial and social history as well as the geological history will be described. At an appropriate poit we will stop for lunch and after cossing the river , the route will take us back along the beck past a disused quarry and finally returning to Middleton in Teesdale. The walk mainly follows good tracks but can be wet and muddy underfoot in sections after poor weather. The walk is approximately 5 miles and climbs about 250m.  

 

Dogs on a lead are welcome on all of the walks

 

On The Edge Activities reserve the right to cancel  the walk if the weather dictates. OTEA reserves the right to adjust the walk to the level of participants.
