Guided walks

This walk starts from the car park next to the bridge at middle end, next to the C road that leads to Middleton in Teedale off the B6278 just outside of Eggleston.  The guide will be there from 9:30 and will provide whatever clothing and boots have been pre ordered. We will walk a short section of road to a gate track and along the great Eggleston beck valley ito an old mining area. We will have to ford the river and streams along this walk so waterproof waking boots and gators are strongly recomended. We will visit two old mine entrances and look along the tunnels. Mine buildings and spoil heaps are all around. The guide will describe the activities that will have taken place to form this landscape. Walking past a shooting hut we will set out onto the open moor and head towards the boarder between Weardale and teesdale. This is a difficult section through heather. We will follow the fence that runs along the border towards the road. A short section of the road takes us onto a track into the little Eggleston beck valley. We will walk along the valley crossing the beck many times before we return to the car park. Lunch will be taken at an appropriate point depending on the weather. This walk is a real adventure where you will see parts of the dale that are well off the beaten track.

Dogs on a lead are welcome on all of the walks

On The Edge Activities reserve the right to cancel  the walk if the weather dictates. OTEA reserves the right to adjust the walk to the level of participants.
